The Neuroscience of Trauma and Its Fallout

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the neurobiological mechanisms involved in the trauma response (e.g., HPA axis, limbic system, vagal tone).
  • Identify how early trauma (ACEs) influences brain development and risk for mental health disorders and substance use.
  • Explain the link between trauma, attachment disruptions, and behavioral health outcomes across the lifespan.
  • Apply key trauma-informed principles to clinical or educational settings for more effective interventions and support.
