Our Mission

The Children's Center for Hope and Healing's mission is to restore dignity, trust and hope to individuals and families traumatized by child sexual abuse through accessible and effective therapy, advocacy, and education.

Our Vision

Our vision is a safe community in which all thrive, free from sexual abuse.

Our Story:

A Journey of Healing and Growth

In the mid-1980s, a dedicated group of Hall County Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS) workers identified a critical gap in specialized services for child victims of sexual abuse. Collaborating with judges, district attorneys, mental health professionals, and law enforcement officials, they conducted a comprehensive community needs assessment. The findings underscored the urgent need for targeted support for sexually abused children in the area.

Responding to this call, the Children’s Center for Hope & Healing was formally incorporated in 1987. Two years later, in 1989, we became a proud partner of the Hall County United Way, marking a significant milestone in our journey. As our service area expanded, so did the unwavering support from the community, enabling us to reach more individuals and families in need.

Expanding Care

Program Expansion and Development

Recognizing emerging challenges, we launched several key programs to address specific needs:

1996: Project Pathfinder - In response to a rising incidence of children exhibiting problematic sexual behaviors, we established Project Pathfinder. This initiative focuses on providing specialized intervention and support to help these youth and their families navigate complex issues with compassion and expertise.

1997: Adult Services - Understanding that the effects of childhood sexual abuse can resonate into adulthood, we extended our services to adults grappling with unresolved trauma. This program offers a safe space for healing, empowering survivors to reclaim their lives and well-being.

1996: Project Pathfinder - In response to a rising incidence of children exhibiting problematic sexual behaviors, we established Project Pathfinder. This initiative focuses on providing specialized intervention and support to help these youth and their families navigate complex issues with compassion and expertise.

2014: Latino Victim Services Program

To meet the growing demand for culturally and linguistically appropriate therapy within the Hispanic community, we introduced the Latino Victim Services Program. This initiative ensures that Spanish-speaking children who have experienced sexual abuse receive sensitive and effective support tailored to their unique cultural contexts.
